No-one in their right mind believes that eating from a vending machine will get them on the road to a healthier lifestyle, as I am pretty sure there is no diet and exercise plan that promotes walking 10 feet from your desk to a machine and loading up on sugary snacks. Despite the fact that we know how bad most of the stuff in those machines are for us, we simply can’t help ourselves from indulging. So, rather than boycotting vending machines entirely, it may instead be a better idea to understand which of those snacks are worse than the rest so, as a public service to the vending addicted, here are the 10 worst.
At number one is the Drake’s Apple Fruit Pie; these weigh in at around 470 calories, and the fat content is through the roof. Eating one of these bad boys may require you taking a 10 minute nap afterwards.
Next up are Austin Cheese Crackers with Cheddar Cheese. I’ve always thought of crackers as a light snack, but the calorie and fat content in these make them pretty far from light.
Strawberry Frosted Pop-Tarts are next, and at 190 calories per serving, they go a long way towards making the most important meal of the day the heaviest as well.
Doritos come in at number four, and those bright orange chips account for 120 calories and 28% fat per serving. Then there is the price of detergent as you try to get those orange fingerprints off your pants..
Color seems to be a warning sign for calories, and the skittles rainbow, along with their 231 calories per serving, come in at number 5.
Cheez-It Baked Snack crackers are at number 6, totally destroying the myth about crackers, with two sets now in the top 10; what’s next, rice cakes?
Ruffles chips are not the best salty snack option, with 160 calories and 58% fat hiding in the valleys of those ridges.
It’s more bad news for chips at the number 8 spot, and another orange tinged one at that. Crunchy Cheeto’s serve up 160 calories and 57% fat per serving.
I must say that I am surprised by the lack of chocolate on this list, and even more shocked that chips are so high up, but finally, at number 9, here comes the chocolate. Twix bars come in at 250 calories and 44% fat, but luckily that for both pieces in the pack.
More chocolate at number 10 with the 3 Musketeers candy bar coming in at 260 calories and 27% fat. Perhaps instead of being all for one, these musketeers should be shared between a small group.
While the snacks in this list are all high in calories and fat, there really isn’t a problem if you love one or more in the list, just so long as you consume then in moderation, otherwise you may have to move your desk another 10 feet away from the vending machine, just so that you up your daily exercise routine.
